Frosch Brand

The brand featuring the green frog has been on the market since 1986, an eco-pioneer from the start. In the mid-1980s, the subject of environmental protection became increasingly more important as public awareness grew, prompted in part by environmental disasters. "Organic quality since 1986" has been the brand promise from the beginning. The brand follows the Cradle-to-Cradle principle which says all product components should be kept in a closed loop. One example is found in formula alternatives that are plant-based and biologically degradable. The surfactants (wash-active substances) we use are made with vegetable raw materials, preferably from European cultivation, including rapeseed, sunflowers and olives. The vegan products contain no harmful ingredients such as microplastic, phosphates or parabens. The closed-loop idea also plays an important part in packaging. Most of our bottles are made of up to 100% recyclates (recycled plastic) and are 100% recyclable This environmental commitment pays off. Over time, Frosch has been able to gain increased consumer trust. In 2021 Frosch also received the consumer prize as Germany’s “most trusted brand” in the area of “cleaning agents” for the twenty consecutive year. Furthermore, Frosch was voted Germany’s “most sustainable brand” in 2009. The Frosch brand has practically democratised sustainability and Frosch products have secured a place for themselves in nearly all areas of household cleaning and care.

Frosch and Environment

Organic quality since 1986 is not just a buzzword for us. We live and breathe sustainability every day. Sustainability is not limited to formulas but applies to packaging and production too. In the manufacture of Frosch products, our concerns about the environment and sustainability have highest priority along the entire supply chain. Environmental activities at Werner & Mertz have been validated since 2003 (EMAS III). We have committed ourselves to proving every year that we make continuous improvements in environmental protection and resource conservation. Integrally sustainable is the maxim we follow in everything we do, from innovative formulas based on plants, the use of recycled packaging and recycling-friendly packaging labels, adhesives and inks, to product production and associated transport distances.

For a feel-good home

In addition to the traditional household cleaners from the early days, laundry care products today are taking on a more important role. Among the lines under the umbrella brand are Frosch Baby, which is geared toward satisfying the requirements of baby's sensitive skin, and Frosch Oase, the decorative room fragrance in varying design flacons. Frosch has become an established name in the cosmetic segment too. The Frosch Reine Pflege handsoap comes in decorative design dispensers without any additional outer packaging. The concept is rounded off with the associated refill pouch which saves about 70% of packaging material. The Frosch Senses line has been under the umbrella brand since 2018. It offers shower gel for sensitive skin in a package made of 100% recycled plastic from the Yellow Bag. Frosch now provides an environmentally friendly alternative for all areas of the household.
